What Are Some Lesser- Known Sights In India?
There are still new and lesser-known options that remain relatively unexplored, no matter how many new destinations you visit. Here are some fantastic places to visit in India that are as far away from the tourist hordes as possible and offer a relaxing and peaceful getaway.

- Majuli
Majuli is a lush green environment-friendly freshwater island in the Brahmaputra River that is pristine and pollution-free. Majuli’s culture is distinct and fascinating, and it is one of the main reasons why people adore this town. It is also known as Assam’s cultural hub. Many of the festivals held here are joyful and vivid. The biggest festival in Majuli is known as Raas, and it is a thrilling and intriguing spectacle.
- Bhimbetka
“The earliest traces of human life on the Indian subcontinent were discovered here.”
If you’re interested in history, this is the book for you. The Cave Paintings at Bhimbetka provide the earliest evidence of human presence on the Indian subcontinent. They portray animals, traditions, festivals, and practises from their age.
- Laitlum Canyons
“Cutting-edge canyons that leave you dizzy as you look down”
Be among the first to see nature’s wonders. The Laitlum Canyons on the outskirts of Shillong, Meghalaya, are among the exotic sites in India that have not been infringed upon. Few people are aware of it, and you’d have to ask around to get here. Feel the surge of blood into your veins as you gaze down on the slashing edges of the mountains, which appear as canyons, and become mesmerised by the vast expanse of tall flush green grass swaying in the cool wind.
- The Kaas Plateau
“ A sea of flowers ”
Place your eyes just on a sea of flowers for stretches. There are approximately 850 different flowering plants in the Kaas Plateau in the district of Maharashtra. In August and September, the place is especially lively.
- The Lonar Crater Lake
“ A lake by a meteor”
Lonar Lake in Maharashtra, one of the most popular tourist destinations, has been a captivating explorer for years. This lake was made by a meteor that hit the planet earth a couple of years ago, according to belief. The outstanding feature of this lake is the salty and alkaline qualities of the water here. According to research, this is a special characteristic of the mixture of the soil and meteoric elements.
- Nagapattinam and Pichavaram
Nagapattinam and Pichavaram are some of South India’s lesser-known and under-appreciated tourist destinations, and I’m not sure why. It is, in my opinion, the best tourist destination in Tamil Nadu. Unlike Ooty and Pondy, Pichavaram is purely for nature lovers who enjoy relaxation and serenity and prefer less crowded areas. Nagapattinam has some of the best and most pristine beaches in the state, with the additional advantage of being as far away from tourist traffic as possible. Nagapattinam is full of wonderful places to visit, from the untouched beaches of Nagore to the quaint beach towns of Karaikal and Tranquebar.
Never stop exploring!!
